Quilting Basics In-Person

Quilting Basics

Learn the basics of quilting and make your own 'jelly roll' lap quilt!  Participants must bring their sewing machine to class, and already have basic knowledge of its operation.

You will also need to bring the following supplies:

•       1 jelly roll (available in quilting supply shop or fabric area at Walmart / Hobby Lobby) in fabric colors and prints of your choice or 40 fabric strips measuring 2-1/2” x WOF (width of fabric—usually 40 or 42 inches wide)
•       1 yard coordinating solid color fabric
•       3-1/2 yards fabric for backing
•       60 x 60 inch piece of quilt batting
•       100% cotton thread in neutral color for piecing
•       General sewing supplies:  sewing machine, rotary cutter and cutting mat, pins, seam ripper, scissors, etc.

Participants will receive a 10% discount off supplies purchased for this class at Carolina Cotton Company, located in Kings Mountain.

Inquire at Front Desk for more details.

At the end of the class, participants should have completed a small quilt suitable for crib, baby, lap quilt, etc., in fabric colors/prints of their choice.
