Preserving Nature's Bounty: Explore Freezing and other Food Preservation Techniques In-Person

Preserving Nature's Bounty: Explore Freezing and other Food Preservation Techniques

Now is the time to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables from your garden, local farmers markets, and even at the grocery store. By preserving summer harvests, you can enjoy the fresh taste of garden beans and tomatoes all year, plus save some money, too. NC Cooperative Extension Agent and co-host of the monthly show, Cleveland County Kitchen, Nancy Abasiekong will instruct a number of ways to preserve the freshness of summer produce. She will demonstrate how to quick-peel fruits and vegetables, and explain blanching and how it preserves the quality of frozen food. Learn about food safety, water-bath and pressure canning methods, and which to use for each type of food.  Participants will take home information on all of these methods, and more.
